crossing the line







O my brother it`s the way of this world
these are the laws that put you inside
cant believe you`ll be gone for such a long time
and I know your heart must be hard
but don`t give up I`ll see you to light

when you come out I`ll be here for you
don`t let that cage destroy the love in you
you have my heart, may it keep you strong

o my little cousin don`t fall so far
you were just a young boy without guidance then
you did a crime and they put you away
but here I am and here I will remain

when you come out we can play
I wont forget you and times that we had
and I look forward to the times we will share
these are the laws made for the rich

when the poor, and struggling fight this is the hitch:
If you cross over their line,
they will find means to put you away
to protect themselves
from people whose lives they`ve stolen away

every day they steal from you
because you hunger, because you pain
and when you decide to make your move
they use the police and take your lives away
according to the 13th amendment
after your in bars you`re a legal slave

don`t make the mistake of crossing that line
don`t commit any of those crimes
cause once you do, they own you
and you have to pay with days of your life
