I wanted to give you some tips on fitness myths.
1. some believe fat can turn into muscle and muscle into fat
--- this is not true, they are totally different types of tissue. To create muscle growth, you must activate anabolic pathways through sports, weightlifting, or resistance work.
--- fat burning is done by thermogenesis, or increasing the temperature of your body, by doing exercise it might seem like you are converting fat into muscle, but that is not true, each activity is creating muscle and burning fat seperately...
2. if your not sure, then you didnt work hard enough
---soreness come from microtears in the tissue when doing a new activity. But if you are very sore from moves you do regularly, then most likely you could be overtraining, which could lead to injuries. Make sure to rest and eat in between workouts to strengthen the muscles you tear. I find that eating protein within an hour of exercise helps a lot with soreness, and glucosamine can be helpful too
3. free wieghts are better than machines
free weights are more challenging to support through the movement, but if your form is not good yet, it can lead to quick injuries by straining the muscles with bad movement patterns. Machines are a great way to learn proper form if you dont have a trainer or friend to help watch you
4. running and walking a mile burns the same calories
this is not true, because running is more strenuous and uses more cardio vascular activity, you will burn more by running a mile than walking the same distance
5. drinking a gallon of water will make you lean
water and hydration are great, buy you dont need a gallon, about 8 glasses a day will be fine. When I am with clients, I will drink a bottle every hour so I can keep talking to my clients. Drinking water alone will not induce weight loss, but your body will function much better when hydrated and it will help you to get through your workouts, if you dehydrate you can get cramps, or get dizzy

testimonial from my client Craig:
Hi my name is Craig & when I first joined 24hr Fitness Ronald was my trainer. I explained to Ronald my goals and he designed a training program to fit my abilities & achieve my goals. Ronald was very detailed on my workouts and always explained the purpose of each exercise & what body parts it would build. He was a "form nazi" in that he made sure I did my exercise correctly with good form which greatly reduced the risk of injury. It was very hard work and I would be sore the next day but that was definitely a good thing. Ronald was always positive & upbeat and was there to motivate and encourage me on throughout my training program. He is very knowledgeable in regards to fitness, training, & nutrition. I learned a lot about these areas thanks to Ronald. Ronald also has a great personality which is very important in a training relationship. I would most definitely recommend Ronald as a personal trainer based on my positive experience with his training program.Craig.
