my 8pm client did not show up, so I clocked out early. I was lifting weights and noticed they were starting a yoga class at 830. So I got up and joined it. It was my first time taking yoga at the arcadia gym. The teacher is Monique Jaime. She is a very good teacher, I learned two new poses that I have not been able to do. Her directions were perfect in teaching me how to balance on two hands only with my legs in the air. It was pretty amazing. I have practiced yoga for many years, so it is refreshing to have a teacher that can show me something new. She is very sweet and in really good shape, she gives great directions and tips on poses and adujstments for beginners. But I got a great workout. I highly recommend her class. It is at 830 on monday and wednesday nights, as well as sunday mornings at 11am. I will be adding her 11 am sunday class to my schedule and I am gonna try to adjust my work schedule so I can attend either the monday or wednesday class. I really miss yoga, and this was a great way for me to get started again. I always get excited when I find a good yoga teacher. She teaches at la fitness too, but I dont know her schedule at those gyms. I used to be a member of la fitness when I first got out of college. I switched in about 2003 to 24 hour fitness.
I have always thought the yoga teachers at la fitness were really good. I missed those classes, I use to workout with Kristi Duke at the diamond bar la fitness, she was great on saturday mornings and wednesday nights. She was my first yoga teacher, she helped me and adjusted my poses many times when I was new to yoga. I still remember how great of shape she was in, I find that women who practice yoga regularly and good at yoga tend to be very lean and athletic in their physical appearance, because advanced yoga can be very demanding on the body. I never sweat, and I do yoga I normally sweat more than in any other workouts I do. I dont get winded but I shed a lot of water after a yoga workout, and I get strong and lean muscles from the exercise.
If you want to come try it, feel free to drop by the arcadia gym when monique is teaching, if you close your eyes and listen and focus on your breathing you will get a great workout, monique is very good.
