The jersey I am wearing for our tournament is number 19. I chose it because it the the day of my birthday in july. Plus I remember being 19, being young and strong and so full of hope as I entered college at ucla. So I looked up psalm 19, and it is titled the God's glory in the heavens and in the Law; for the leader. A psalm of David.
And I felt that the choice was a good one for this number. I used to wear number 71 for psalm 71, when I used to play soccer with my friends. But I chose a new number this time, and I hope that psalm 19 reaches into your heart as well. If you are struggling with sin, or faults that you do not even recognize, then let the lord cleanse you and purify you. Take away any addictions to evil thoughts or actions. Let your body become pure and let yourself become a servant to god. For the greatest servant is the greatest leader. And the more people you serve with your work, the greater will be the harvest that you reap on earth and in especially in heaven. For example, look at google or yahoo. They both made great search engines, and they are normally the first two places people turn to when they are searching for something on the internet. Now they have become powerful and massive and economically strong, for they served the multitudes who are searching the world for answers and products and information. In the same way reach out and serve more people at work. Help your coworkers, help your clients, help your family, strangers you meet on a daily basis. The more people you help with your work and your time and talents and treasure, thus the greater your rewards will be.
Do not go to your boss and ask for a raise. Instead ask your manager, or ask your lord, what can I do for you today, how can I be of service to your company. And when you perform this duty or task given to you, he will see your value and want to keep you around, and he will want to reward you for your service,so that you do not leave for another company or another master. You cannot expect a raise in income, unless you raise your effort and your contribution to the company.
In the same way when you pray do not ask god to give you everything you want. Ask god, how can I do your work today, what do you want me to do for you lord? And if you listen and obey your lord, then you will reap a great reward here on earth and most especially at the end of your days in heaven.
Would you prefer to have great riches on earth, or great riches for your eternity after death. Look for ways to serve, bring people to jesus, evangelize, spread the word of god, and all will be given unto you. For if you teach the masses about jesus, then the love of your neighbor will spread to all the people you touch, and all the people they touch in their lives. It will spread like a wildfire, and it will consume the evil one in god's glory, love and justice.
God will grant you all that you need, and if you do god's will he will take care of your future and give you a future full of hope, love, faith, and peace in your heart.
