So think carefully, today and henceforth (from the twenty-fourth day of the ninth month, from the day the foundation of the sanctuary of Yahweh was laid, think carefully) if seed-corn is still short in the barn, and if vine and fig tree, pomegranate and olive tree still bear no fruit. 'From today onwards I intend to bless you.'
This was the passage I found today at the end of my day. I started my day at mass at holy name of mary, the church was packed. I arrived very early and assumed it was going to be a very small mass, but when mass started the whole church was full. I was amazed so many came out for a morning mass. The music was good, and it was a great way to start my day. Actually since I start work at 10, it is possible for me to attend mass in the mornings at 830 at holy name of mary before work. One of my favorite priests came back to the church, his name is father john. He is a very large man, but he always has great stories and funny jokes that he shares in his homilies. He makes mass very fun. I like him much better than our current pastor, father tom. But father tom was able to help our parish build a brand new church, and led the fundraising of millions of dollars for our parish, so I respect him for that undertaking.
This passage made me feel good, because even when the cupboards are bare, or you are low on cash, if you have faith, god can turn the tides for you and bring you blessings.
From this day forward you will be blessed. Whatever you need god will always provide for it. Just believe in his promise and he will deliver. Never lose faith in god's promise. He will not let his children go hungry if they are faithful to his teachings.
Let us begin lent, by wiping away our sins, giving alms to the poor, and serving each other. Make it your mission to be a better christian, and improve your life by the time easter comes. If you can be different for all of lent, then you can carry that on for the rest of the year. Let 2008, be a season of growth in your life. Dont go back to same old sins, that feel good, cause nobody knows what you do in private. Instead be faithful in all things whether or not people are watching and especially when you are by yourself.
What you do when you are alone and nobody is watching is your character. What you do while people are watching should be the same as what you do when nobody is watching. Dont live a double life to try and impress people. Because jesus is always walking with you, and he knows your heart better than you know yourself.
Let today, ash wednesday be the beginnig of blessings in your life, even if your cupboards are bare and your trees are not bearing fruit. Let today be the day everything gets better in your life.
